Some days ago, searching for a painting, I rediscovered a series I did some years ago, about the Children from Tahiti. This series, among other paintings from Tahiti, was meant for an exhibition there… well, life decided otherwise and the exhibition didn’t take place, mainly because my agent there, -my brother- fell in love and had other priorities! 

Anyway, the children from Tahiti are still so beautiful … although my might have grown up in the meanwhile and become strong warriors or whatever…

Not that I am a militant myself  (    ), but I do like these animals, they look so funny and even touching wiht their weird head coming out from under the shell… and I love to paint them!

Although these cards, which I especially desogned for that day, were my first attempt to immortalise them in art…

God saves The Queen, but The Queen saves The Swans

on The 1st of May I announced in this blog that I am working on a new calendar

“Countdown for The Commons People”

in honour of Kevin’s football team, DCFC, and as a complement oto his CD

“Fan Fayre for The Commons People”.

It is a calendar for the football season 2009/2010, presenting a piece of Art each month  featuring  humorously (and impartial way as I am a Derby Fan now!!!)  teams who will have to fight against the Rams (Derby’s Nickname). Th season 2008/2009 is nearly finished now, but I am still waiting for the definitive results to  know exactly which teams will be in the Derby’s league, the Championship.

As always in life, there is a tough rule in English football (and certainly in any other football):

The best are promoted into the higher division, and the worst are relegated into the lower division.

Anyway, I present today one of the artworks, featuring Derby against “Swansea”, one of the teams which will have to confront the Derby Ram next season. the nickname of  Swansea City FC  is “the Swans”… and for the ones who are not hot so on British history: Queen Elizabeth protects all British Swans. No doubt, with our new strong Derby team, the Queen will have a hard job!

With this info I hope you will understand and hopefully  appreciate the honour of this picture…

The Frog Jumping Day!

Have you ever heard about that? Me not, and neither Kevin, who is normally the most worldly wise of the two of us.

What is it about? No idea, really…  But I read somewhere

“Frog Jumping Day is a great day to jump like a frog. Or, is today intended to jump “over” a frog? Either way, today is a fun day…”

But to be honest, I don’t care what it is really about. I find frogs very cute, and this is a good reason enough to celebrate them. And to draw them.

Romance online

I have recently started to work for an ecard company online. I am still represented at Plaxo with my work, but this now is another company, which asked me to join some time ago. Unfortunately I had no time for this kind of activity, but the people there persevered asking me, so I thought:

“well, they think to really want me!”

I liked this attitude (who could resist to be so badly wanted!    !  ), so I simply joined,  just in time before Mother’s day. Somehow it was sweet for me to see, that on that day, my ecards were sent to many Mothers all around the world. It is really a touching feeling.

Although I live quite like a recluse, I knew somehow that it was Mother’s day… although, to be honest, I have no idea it was Mother’s day in France, where my own Mother lives right now… shame on me, I didn’t even check!

Anyway, from my little corner of the universe I am discovering now an an incredible amount of events structuring our calendar. Did you know for example, that we are in the middle of the “Romance Online Week”?

Mike Koch joined BC Sweet in December 2006, replacing original member Dave Glover on Lead Guitar. Mike was born on 24th of June 1961 in Ellsinore (made famous as the place where Shakespeare’s Hamlet was roaming the castle) in Denmark. Mike’s driving guitar sound and fantastic stage presence made him the ideal choice to replace Dave and have already made him a firm favourite with BC Sweet fans.
