Flamenco in Space

Flamencoscpae 16 - by Miki

My last flamenco creation, in a mixed technique of pastel and digital art

As Kev Moore saw it he said:

“This would have been a great cover for the album by the Flamenco rock Group Carmen, Fandangos in Space…”

Ok, I will go for it. Just need the musician to make the album now…but I would like some kind music like Steve Stevens in his album “Flamenco a Go Go” to go with it, less traditional than the usual flamenco, more modern and rocky, with some electric guitar on it.

Any musician out there interested in making a new flamenco album with this artwork as a cover?  :-)

In the meanwhile, f anybody here wants to buy a print of my Flamencoscape, it is available in different sizes and on different supports (papers, canvas), in my FAA Gallery here:

Homage to a Fan

This morning when I got up,  I went though my mails, as usual. I do now want to appear arrogant, but i do get quite often nice mails from people from all around the world, who like what I do. Well, whatever they say, it is always wonderful to read their appreciation, to think that they took the time write to me  and let me know how they feel about my art.

Well, this morning I found a very short message in my Art Site Guest-book, and I must say that this was one of the most beautiful and charming comments I have ever received:

“… I’d love to live in the world you have created in your paintings…”

Not many words, not complicated esoteric or deep philosophical considerations, just that… JUST WONDERFUL!

I don’t know why exactly it touches me so deeply. i started thinking about what is this world in my paintings, as it certainly does not correspond to the real world, but neither to a dream world of me, as I never dream, at least not awake. But I do know that I dream much and vividly nights… is it my Night World?

Well, if it is, and considering how exhausted I often awake in the morning after  dream-filled  nights, I am not sure that I would love myself to live in my paintings world!  :-)

Not sure I would love to meet that CATalonia here…

Mind Your Head

Not meant to be an art piece really. I just fancied doing it.

We have at home a wood sculpture of The Thinker by Rodin, and in front of him, we have put one of these stickers with “Mind your head” written on it, which one normally finds above low doorways. I just find it hilarious!

Available somewhere as T-Shirt if somebody thinks he/she needs such a thing to be reminded of taking care of his/her head… ME for example!

Apart from that, I am still busy with the bulls…. I have by the way created a small Bullfighting art site in Spanish, in case this might be the reason why I sell my bullfight paintings everywhere…. except in Spain!  :-)

Well, it is not finished yet… and I had no much choice for the design, and above all i haven’t got a clue how to get rid of the bloody advertising on the top of the page!

Racing through the Water

As I had to reopen my acrylic atelier to fulfil the wishes of some bullfight paintings clients, I decided to finish a painting I started about 2 years ago, when we came back from our first trip through Portugal. we had accidentally attended a powerboats racing World Championship In Barca de Alba, and fascinated by the speed and the movements of the water all around the boats, I had wanted to give it a go on canvas. Why exactly I did not finish the painting at that time, I don’t know but i guess it had to do with the fact that we were moving from Albir to Turre, and this was connected with loads of work and stress.

Anyway I finished it this morning, and I am happy with the result! It makes me want to start a sport series again, with much water, or much snow,  these nature elements which move a lot when human start to fight their way across them… I would love to do them in acrylic, but well, where should I go with the finished canvasses? My gallery is really full, part of the flat too, and I don;t want to get again that feeling of suffocating under my own art! I know, an awful reason not to paint, but watcha gonne do” as Tony Soprano uses to say  :-)

Back to The Bulls

So, I am back in my acrylic atelier for a wild Spanish fiesta… have been painting the bulls again fro 3 days now, I am a big mess, all covered in paints, these beast are really wild! When the bulls catch me, they don;t let me go for a little while, until I am exhausted. So I guess I will stay with them some more days in my rainbow atelier, but will also do some  bullfight paintings in water colour, which I rarely did in fact, most of them being in acrylic and gouache.

A special word for those who hate bullfight: I understand you, but the best would be for you and for me, that you skip this post!  :-)

Guitar Heroe Angus Young

Angus Young - by Miki

I have just started a new series of my Rock Musicians, in that tehcnique involving classical and digital art.

The digital part being to give the painting some more “electricity”.

Wikipedia:

“Angus McKinnon Young (born 31 March 1955) is a Scottish-born Australian musician, and the lead guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder of the rock and roll band AC/DC. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with other members of AC/DC in 2003 and is known for his energetic performances, schoolboy-uniform stage outfits and the duck walk…”

Times of The Day

These days I am going through older watercolour paintings b me (well, between 2 and 4 years old), a series of “simple” landscape paintings evoking the different times of the day: dawn, early morning, midday, early afternoon, late afternoon, nightfall, sunset… In fact they look simple, but well, when i look at some of them, i really haven’t got a clue how i reached some of the effects! I just know that they are painted very fast, from memory/fantasy, without thinking, and somehow they are meant to be just emotional impressions… with, like always, a big weight on the colours.

Here are some examples

Dawn 01

Early Morning 02

Early Morning 11

Midday 06

Early Afternoon 12

Late Afternoon 13

Sunset 05

Nightfall 07

You can see a big selection of them, and even buy prints online in different sizes in my RedBubble Gallery

Also they are available in my Fine Art America Gallery
