Willie Nelson

Portraits of the American Country Singer and Guitarist

I will have to make a confession here, something I am really not proud of: I knew nothing about Willie Nelson until very recently. And when I say nothing, I mean that I didn’t even know about his existence!

In my defence I will state that my musical culture is 95% the responsibility of my partner, the English rock musician Kev Moore. And him being a passionate rocker, country music is not exactly his thing: wouldn’t look cool anyway if he liked it! And this is how it came to be that Willie Nelson was never presented to me. How then did I come to meet him? Well, in the most unexpected way: I was watching an episode of the USA TV show “Monk” the other day, the episode called “Mr Monk and The Red-Headed Stranger “. There, Monk’s favourite singer, Willie Nelson, playing himself, was wrongly suspected of murdering his tour manager, and of course Monk stepped in to clear his name. To thank him, at the end of the episode, Willie sang a song at the graveside of Mr Monk’s late wife. A very touching scene! Anyway I loved that guy, the way he looked, acted, and more than anything: the way he sang and played guitar: a perfect model for my music art.

I browsed around a little bit in Youtube to see him performing and enjoyed immensely what I saw. I was especially touched by a performance he did with Keith Richards, from the Rolling Stones, Keith playing the acoustic guitar and singing too. The proof, Mr Moore, that liking Willie Nelson is not uncool at all, not even for a rocker!

As I had finished the above artwork, I thought that it would also make a nice portrait of Willie Nelson alone. So I cut Keith Richards away , and did some work in Photoshop, playing around with the colours. This is how Willie suddenly got a blue skin: suits him well I would say!

The paintings of Willie Nelson presented in this gallery, and many more musician portraits, are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper or canvas, and also as greeting cards, in my

FAA Gallery

The Giclee prints from the above mentioned Online shop are manufactured in the USA and sent directly to the client from there. For personal or financial reasons it might not be appropriate for everybody to order their prints in the USA. Also, you might prefer to purchase my Giclee prints hand-signed. If so, you can alternatively order directly from me. Simply contact me indicating which painting you are interested in and in which size. Go to

Goodaboom Boutique

to see a guideline of pricing for different dimensions.

Mildew Bookworm

200811-claire-emily-and-mildew

Last week we introduced a new feature in the gallery. You won’t believe what it is… A Guess? No chance!

The new feature is…. Internet!

Ha ha Ha!

Well, since we have moved here we had no time to work on our internet connection and we were still working alternately on the net, being connected via wires. Now we have got an airport, and of course, the gallery being next door, we are able to steal from our own connection.

Considering the fact that most of the works I have done this year (series such as The Fantascapes, The Eroscapes, the Fantasprays, The Aquagames, The Pastel Games and finally “La Création du Monde”) are only available as Giclee prints, I thought that the best strategy would be to have some Giclee prints framed, as samples, and to show my online gallery to the clients, to allow them to choose what they want to order. Actually I have put my laptop there, but I might one day install a more sophisticated device, such as a projection screen… we will see.

Anyway the first day we had internet in the gallery we had the visit of an English singer and her art-loving daughter. Seeing one of my paintings, “Mildew Bookworm” she said:

“This would make a great character for a story!”

Well, the truth is, that  about 2 years ago, Kevin wrote a short story, “The Thief of Hearts and The Firecat”,  based on a series of my paintings, and made a little video out of it, in which Mildew narrates the story. And this is exactly what these 2 ladies and Kevin are laughing at on this photo:

So, if you want to have a laugh too, look at the following video!

And if you want to look at Part 2, Mildew says

“Find it yourselves!”

Give Me a Title

I want to invite you to take part to my new “GIVE ME A TITLE” Competition, starting today. The last one has been won by Deran, from USA, with the wonderful title

“Making Sense of Static”

It is very simple: just give me a title for the creation I presented in my last entry in this blog:

Facing your Fear

You can leave the title here as a comment (and I´ll add it myself to the list of the other titles in my website Goodaboom), or you can go directly to the competiton page Give Me A Title.

By the way: there is something to win: a hand-signed A5 reproduction of the painting.

Good Luck and thanks for participating!

Café Crem and Cafés of the World

I have painted so much during the last few weeks, and put so much work into completely reorganising my gallery, hanging more than 100 new paintings, that I can´t even look at my own paintings anymore! They bore me to death, actually!

So today I will just present you 2 new projects, which I think you might enjoy.

First a new place called “Cafes of the world” , created by Michael Pokocky, who invites everybody to present there his favourite café(s) in the world. A great idea, I find, and I just can hope that many people here will participate. I show there my favourite café already… here it is

Cafe Crem Van Gogh

Do you recognise anything?

Well, it has to do with Van Gogh, and with Café Crem. If you want to know more, just go there. To Cafés of the World I mean. Well, you can go to Café Crem too, the second project I spoke about. I even recommend you to run there, because we have just started a Christmas Party, which promises to be great fun, with a lot of stuff for the heart, for the brain and even a lot of chocolate and other Christmas comestibles to win!

Christmas Coffee Cup Competitionj

And Now I am waiting…

Yes, I am waiting…

Corrida Bullfight Painting
I am not sure for what…
For compliments… or for insults?
Well… I have already heard a lot of both in my life as a painter, insults for daring to paint such stuff. compliments for painting it like I do.
I accept all of them with good grace, as long as they keep fair and respectful. But sometimes both sides of the coin become one, for example, the most extraordinary experience I have ever had in this context were some clients who hated bullfights, but bought from me some very big bullfight paintings saying:
“We hate bullfights, but we love your paintings so much, the colours, the movement….”
Tell me, can I take their outrage seriously then?
I don´t know what to think. But I would love to know what YOU think, about bullfights, and painting bullfights?

And don´t forget my competition! Give me a Title for the following painting:
The Yeti in No man´s Land
