Keith Richards

Keith Richards S

Some days ago I felt the need to go back to the world of portraits… this always happens to me after an intenive time of painting/sketching landscapes, which is right now the case with my travel sketches of Portugal and Spain.

This is a portarit of Keith Richards, you know, from the Rolling Stones…

how he looks like nowadays, a fascinating face to me.

This portrait is pure digital art, using my old Wacom tablet and the digital pen, of which I had forgotten the existence and in fact hardly used in the past. I can’t believe that I missed this tool all these years, as I enjoyed it so much! Now the tablet is definitely installed on my desk, and I will certainly use it more than once, for portraits or other kind of digital art. I must confess that I love digital art, one of the main reasons being  that… it is soooo clean!

WordPress is in the Air

wordpress-is-in-the-air-wp

I have participated at the very last moment in a contest organised by  The Infectious People… You might have seen it featured already in WordPress, as that is how I found it myself by accident yesterday. The theme was

I<3 Blogging!

“Show us what makes the heart of a blogger tick… An image for the voice of bloggers everywhere”

the aim of Infectious being to make laptop and iphone skins for bloggers.

It is certainly not my way to participate in such competitions, but well, in this case, my heart really ticked as I find blogging, and especially WordPress, a

World Wide Wonder.

So, these are the designs I submitted for an iphone and a laptop .

If you like them, you are welcome to vote for me there. But really, I am not trying here to gather votes from my friends, as it is something which I really hate in such competitions, when the participants mobilise their net of connections to vote for them.

My aim here is much more to show you one more of the 1,000 things I am busy with, and also to to incite the artists among you to participate to such competitions, They have another one going on at the moment, with the title

“The City Series”

(Bubble Boy – 1 -) (Bubble Boy – 3 -)

I have started to publish Bubble Boy, my illustrated tale for Children  (small children and big children…) in Cafe Literati. I will post here the illustrations, twice the week, Mondays and Thursdays, with a link to the texts in Cafe Literati.

Here we go!

(next instalment on Thursday 15th January 2009)

Whirled in Digital Rainbow…

storks-painting-s

It was a  grey and cold day today in Andalucia,

one of these hated days where the world seems to stand still…

I suddenly felt the urge to work with colours again, took some of my storks

and whirled them around in some digital rainbow…

kind of!

PS: today only humourous or colourful comments are allowed…

Thanks!

And God created the Flowers…

first-flowers-1-s

From my last series: “La Création du Monde”

I don’t really believe that God’s first flowers looked like that…

but well, I had more experience with flowers that HE  had as he created his!

Anyway, sorry but no time for more words today,

I’ve got to paint!

Fantascape #17 : Fire and Ice

A more realistic fantascape, almost still life…

it might have been before the trees started to take human form and invade our world

at a time when ice and fire

were not parted by physical laws…

Fantascape #13 : Stranger in the Night

Who is that stranger sitting on the hill tonight, in front of my window?

(the one in the house with the little tower…)

Fantascape #10 : La Danse du Printemps

As Susan Cornelis and me decided to start the common project Fantascapes, I first proposed the title: “The Spring Dance”. She liked it, but said that it sounds much better in French. I don’t know what it is with the French language, but wherever I have been, people loved it and always said, that it sounds so beautiful. In German TV they go so far as to sometimes put ads in French, for things like perfumes for example. Apparently it doesn’t matter that nobody has a clue what they’re on about, it is enough that it is in French to convince of some elegance.

Anyway we then thought that “The Spring Dance” was too restrictive and we chose “Fantascapes”, allowing our crazy fantasies to spin around the whole of nature.

I saw many blogs showing spring images over the last few days and I thought I should join them, presenting my new fantascape, which is literally a spring dance. I really saw these trees dancing together by night as Spring arose, in a little village in the Spanish Sierra, some weeks ago…

And please: don’t forget to give me a title for my fantascape #8 (see last post)! The titles you already proposed are simply fantastic, i enjoy it so much! There is no limits in the quantity of titles you can give me…

Fantascape #9 : Grace under Pressure

While our beloved country girl with whom I started the series Fantascapes some weeks ago, is wandering through the streets and museums of the big city, I keep prisoner of my own fantasy, of all these creatures which have suddenly invaded my space and taken possession of all inanimated forms around me, forcing me to artistically testify that you can still see the wood looking at the trees, if only …

if only what?

If only we all had such grace under pressure!

And please: don’t forget to give me a title for my fantascape #8 (see last post)! The titles you already proposed are simply fantastic, i enjoy it so much! There is no limits in the quantity of titles you can give me…

Fantascape #8: Give Me a Title!

I really have a problem to find an adequate title for this creation, so I decided to submit it to your fantasy, allowing it as the next subject from my trimestrial competition “GIVE ME A TITLE”

The last one has been won by Dalila, from Aruba, Dutch Caribbean, with the wonderful title

“Dancing for Poseidon.”

To participate is very simple: just give me a title for my Fantascape #8 !

You can leave the title here as a comment (and I´ll add it myself to the list of the other titles in my website Goodaboom), or you can go directly to the competition page Give Me A Title.

By the way: there is something to win, a hand-signed A5 reproduction of the painting.

Good Luck and thanks for participating!
